Social difficulties are a major preoccupation for people with autism and their entourage. They impact the quality of autistic people's social and educational integration, and later in life may become obstacles to socio-professional integration. It is important to be able to develop autistic children's social skills at school, and this from the earliest possible age.
Over a period of one year, researchers form the University of Mons, worked with teachers of four Belgian education classes with autistic children, and were able to test the relevance of digital tablets in teachers' pedagogical practices.
The objective of this work was to gather feedback, suggestions and identify the restictions and possibilities for the implementation of these technologies in schools. The "Autism and New Technologies" guide is the product of this work and is aimed at all persons interested in developing the social skills of children and adolescents with autism.
