The President's Letter

Dear Sir

Dear Madam,

As I did, you must have come across people with disabilities and realised the countless difficulties they have to face in their daily life, at work, and to be part of our society. One out of ten people of the world’s population lives with a disability. Furthermore, recent surveys show that in France, one out of  three people is directly or indirectly exposed to this issue.

This means that one day, both you and me are already or will be concerned .

It is for this very reason that I am involved with the International Foundation of Applied Disability Research and that I draw your attention to this predicament and hope to get your support. As an ethically conscious citizen, I cannot ignore the situation. Being disabled poses major ethical questions for our society. We must urgently react so that everyone, regardless of their particular disability, can take advantage of the best possible quality of life.

The above sums up the vocation of the International Foundation of Applied Disability Research, and is the reason why I accepted to take on the role of President, when I was asked by the Presidents of Fegapei, APF and Apajh.

The Foundation is looking for making a substantial contribution to the applied research and knowledge development, by bringing together and opening up communication channels between people working with the disabled worldwide.

Such an initiative will fill a gap : although many researches are carried out throughout the world on the origins and treatment of diseases, there is no equivalent for the people with disabilities.
